  1. Hot Springs

Take a trip about an hour southwest of Sherwood to get to Hot Springs, Arkansas. This small city is known for its naturally heated springs. If you want to spend some time soaking in the springs, head to Bathhouse Row. Here you’ll find eight historic bathhouses, including Hale Bathhouse, which was completed in 1892. You can also spend some time exploring the natural beauty of the area by visiting Hot Springs National Park, Lake Ouachita State Park, and Lake Catherine State Park.

  1. Crater of Diamonds State Park

Are you interested in digging for diamonds? Then take a trip about two hours southwest of Sherwood to Crater of Diamonds State Park. This park is one of the only diamond-producing sites in the world where the general public can come out and look for diamonds. You can bring your own tools, or you can rent equipment at the park. The only rule is no motor-driven or battery-operated tools. Otherwise, the policy is “finders, keepers,” which means anything you find is yours to keep.

  1. Memphis

If you take a drive two hours east of Sherwood, you’ll find yourself in Memphis, Tennessee. Here you’ll discover an incredible variety of attractions. If you love music, you should make plans to check out Stax Museum of American Soul Music, Graceland, and Sun Studio, which is considered the birthplace of rock ‘n’ roll. If history is more your thing, Memphis is home to the National Civil Rights Museum. Or you can take a stroll down Beale Street to discover the heart and soul of the city’s culture.

  1. Mount Magazine State Park

Other activities you can enjoy in the park include mountain biking, horseback riding, picnicking, rock climbing, and hang gliding.

  1. Blanchard Springs Caverns

In addition to plenty of beauty above ground, Arkansas also has some interesting places below ground.
