The Kia Sedona is quickly becoming a favorite for busy families on the go. Read on to learn about the exciting new features in the redesigned 2021 Kia Sedona.

Interior Features

Drivers and passengers alike will enjoy the Kia Sedona’s upgraded interior features. The cabin will include luxurious finishes and a modern cockpit design. The most notable change in the Sedona’s interior will be the addition of a widescreen digital driver information center and infotainment system. Instead of separating the vehicle gauges infotainment and screen, the 2021 Sedona combines them into one widescreen that stretches from window to window.

Many interior features from the 2020 Sedona are expected to carry over into the 2021 model. The second-row slide-n-stow seats and 60/40 split-folding third-row bench provide ample seating for up to eight passengers. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, Siri Eyes Free, and steering-wheel-mounted audio controls are expected to be included in the 2021 model as well.

Exterior Features

For the 2021 model year, the Kia Sedona will include exterior upgrades including more narrow LED headlights, integrated LED running lights, a tiger-nose grill, an updated bumper, and overall boxier design. The new, wider wheelbase in the 2021 Sedona provides rear passengers with more legroom.

Exterior features expected to remain the same include the rear spoiler, exterior mirrors with integrated turn signals, and heated rear glass. The popular Smart Power Liftgate is also expected to return. With Kia’s unique liftgate, you no longer need a free hand to open the trunk. The Smart Power Liftgate opens automatically when you approach the vehicle with your SmartKey.

Engine and Performance

The Sedona’s current engine is a 276-horsepower, 3.3-liter V-6 paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. In the 2021 model year, this engine is expected to be replaced with either a new 2.5-liter turbo or a 3.5-liter V-6. A plug-in hybrid may also join the Sedona lineup in 2021. Front-wheel drive is still expected to be the standard on all Sedona models but an all-wheel-drive option is expected to be added in 2021.

The maximum towing capacity of the 2020 Kia Sedona is 3,500 pounds. The towing maximum of the 2021 Sedona is expected to be similar.

Safety Features

There is little known about possible changes to the safety features in the 2021 Sedona. Even if the 2021 model stays the same, it will be equipped with extensive safety features. Current features include advanced air bags, LATCH, electronic stability control, cornering brake control, traction control, brake assist, hill start assist, a rearview camera, and rollover mitigation.

It is possible that Kia’s suite of Drive Wise driver-assist tech could be made standard on all models. The Drive Wise suite is currently only standard on the EX and SX models and includes forward-collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, driver attention warning, blind-spot collision warning, rear cross-traffic detection, and smart cruise control.

With its sleek new look, upgraded infotainment system, and new engine options, the 2021 model year is expected to be an exciting one for the Kia Sedona. To test drive the newest models in the Kia lineup, head over to Crain Kia of Sherwood.
