Sustainability

Kia is preparing for a future where all cars will run on electricity. The car manufacturer recently introduced new models, such as the EV6, Niro EV, and EV9, showcasing the steps to achieve this goal. By 2026, Kia plans to have 11 electric cars available for purchase. They aim to make all their European vehicles electric by 2035 and gradually expand this initiative to other major markets by 2040. By 2045, Kia intends to have all their cars run on electricity worldwide.

RE: 100- All-Electric Future

Kia plans to use only renewable energy to power its factories. This project is named RE:100, and it aims to achieve this by 2030. The company also intends to make all the vehicles used at these factories electric. Kia will set up solar panels at some of its factories across the globe to generate power.

FCEVs

Kia is also planning to present hydrogen fuel cell vehicles by 2028! And that’s not all – they’ll also incorporate hydrogen technology into their production process.

“To help foster a hydrogen society. We plan to use hydrogen fuel cell power generation technology as an energy source at all of our worksites over the mid-to-long term,” says Ho Sung Song.

Collaboration

Kia is working alongside groups that protect the environment to ensure a positive impact on our planet. Together, they are striving to create a greener future for us all.

“We acknowledge that we are part of the problem. But we believe that we can also play a big part in the solution,” said Ho Sung Song.

Ocean Cleanup's machine's capturing plastic

The Ocean Cleanup

Kia is collaborating with an initiative called The Ocean Cleanup to prevent plastic pollution in the ocean. In August 2023, they successfully removed 55 tons of plastic from the Pacific Ocean using a cleanup system called System002. This plastic will be recycled, and some will be used in Kia’s upcoming cars. The organization also places interceptors near river entrances to prevent plastic waste from entering the ocean.

Kia wants to help create a better future by focusing on sustainability. The company plans to use only electric power for its production and driving. Kia is also taking action to clean up the environment, making the world brighter and greener.
